I am contesting the Old Town ward where I have lived for the past 16 years. Having never previously been involved in a political campaign, I was motivated to join the alliance because of my opposition to the restrictions we have all been living under for the past year. Whilst Covid can be a serious virus for a small percentage of the population, the situation could have been handled very differently and needs to be handled very differently going forwards. I want to give people a voice to express their political opposition to these measures and to demand that we get back to normality immediately before more damage is done to our lives, our jobs and our mental health. The May elections will be the first political opportunity for people to have their say on these damaging measures. The past year has really emphasised how little politicians at a national and local level listen to the concerns of their voters. The Independent Alliance in Swindon is committed to a different kind of politics where your voices will be heard and acted upon.
